Movies to bring the world together at Dubai International Film Festival from December 12 to 19

Tuesday May 17 2011

The seventh edition of Dubai International Film Festival 2010 will be held from December 12 to 19. DIFF 2010 is held in association with Dubai Studio City and supported by the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority.

The Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) is the leading film festival in the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Since its inception in 2004, the festival has served as an influential platform for Arab filmmakers and talent at an international level, by spearheading the cinema movement in the region.

For its seventh edition, the programme draws from diverse genres, geographies and subjects to offer a powerful array of biopics, horror, adventure, comedy and drama.

Films from Europe will be in focus at the `Cinema of the World` segment of the forthcoming festival. The European slate for this year will include Oscar winning British director Danny Boyle`s `127 Hours`; Swedish mystery psycho-thriller `Corridor` and Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu`s `Biutiful`.

The Cinema of the World programme also includes a selection of cinema from France, Germany, Romania, Russia and US. Latin American cinemas this year are housed in its `In Focus: Mexico` tribute.

`While filmmaking techniques and technology have evolved dramatically, good cinema still has to deliver a powerful narrative, exemplary performances and the ability to touch your heart and set you thinking. The films in the `Cinema of the World` will, I hope, provide just that,`- said Sheila Whitaker, Director of DIFF`s international programming.
